The TRUE MEANING OF EPHESIANS 5:22-24. The Misunderstanding of these Bible Verses Is A Major Cause of Global Divorce Problem, Broken Homes, and Many Other Marriage and Family Problems!

The impure humanistic understanding of Ephesians 5:22-24 is carried and adopted by the hundreds of the daughter churches that came out of WCG after HWA's death. This is the very reason why the Marriage Problem is the continuing Number 1 problem in the Churches. This is because the Churches allowed the polluted marriage doctrines from the world to mix with Ephesians 5:22-24.

To compound the problem then, Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong (HWA), and the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) got the wrong concept of Ephesian 5:22-24. 

The Head and Authority in the marriage and family is the Man-Husband-Father, not the woman-wife-mother! As Christ is the Head of the Church, so the Man-Husband must be the Head of the wife (Ephesian 5:22-24). This government structure and relationship in the home is the very root and power of the GREAT MYSTERY OF MARRIAGE.

• Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church... (Eph 5:22-23 MKJV)

• Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. (Eph 5:24 MKJV)

Although the scriptures above are clear enough to be understood, even literally, yet HWA and the WCG ministry did not properly understand them. I was a student of Mr. Herbert Armstrong's teachings for more than 20 years, and I personally experienced the pain and confusion about Ephesians 5:22-24.

The WCG then, even today, believed that the husband and wife are of equal footing in the marriage and family relationship; the same belief as in the world. The world calls it 50-50, or "Give and Take." But this is NOT what the Bible describes it.

This impure humanistic understanding of Ephesians 5:22-24 is carried and adopted by the hundreds of the daughter churches that came out of WCG after the death of HWA. Now, I can see that as the very reason why the marriage problem is the number 1 problem in the Church. HWA and the WCG allowed the polluted marriage doctrines from the world to mix with Ephesians 5:22-24.

The reality and seriousness of the marriage problem being the continuing number 1 problem in the churches should have awaken HWA and his ministers to really dig deeper into the subject of marriage. But they did not, deceiving themselves by thinking that they already knew the subject of marriage. They have written many booklets and articles about marriage. They gave many sermons about marriage, and conducted many marriage counseling. These activities deceived them to think that they already knew marriage, blinding them to the painful realities of marriage problems just in front of them!
